Traditional Worship at 8:45am and 10:30am
If you attend one of our traditional services which lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, you can expect something like this:
As you enter the sanctuary, an usher will hand you a printed bulletin containing an outline of that morning's worship service, general announcements, and items of interest.
Prelude — instrumental music plays as we gather and find our seats.
Welcome and Announcements — one of the pastors (or sometimes a member) welcomes everyone in attendance and makes some brief announcements about the following week's scheduled activities, upcoming special events, or other activities.
We Greet Each Other — everyone greets others near them with a smile and a handshake or wave.
Call to Worship — a musical selection is performed by the choir or other group.
Hymn of Praise — everyone joins in singing, usually a selection from the hymn book, or sometimes one printed in the bulletin.
Affirmation of Faith — we stand and recite in unison a short statement of what we believe (participation is voluntary).
Prayers of the People — one of the pastors says a prayer, finishing with everyone reciting the Lord's Prayer in unison (participation is voluntary).
Offering/Collection/Donations/Tithes — ushers pass among the congregation while instrumental music is playing or the choir is singing and collect our donations (participation is voluntary). We then stand up and sing a song called the "Doxology," which is a Latin word that means "an expression of praise to God" (participation is voluntary).
Altar Prayer — an invitation is issued to everyone who desires to come to the altar at the front of the church for a short time of individual prayer while music is played.
Children's Moment — youngsters are invited to gather and sit at the front to hear a special message for their age group (participation is voluntary).
Anthem — special music from the choir or other musical group.
Scripture — one of the pastors reads a short passage from the Bible.
Sermon — a message from one of the pastors with application to our daily lives.
Invitation and Hymn — the pastor invites anyone who is ready to join the church to come forward and express their desire to do so as we stand and sing a selection (usually found in the hymn book).
Benediction — the pastor says a short prayer of dismissal
