Respite Care for Families with Special-Needs Children
“Carry each others burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Galatians 6:2
Madison County has a large, often neglected, population of parents with special-needs children. These parents work hard to keep a family together while providing constant physical, emotional, and financial attention to their special-needs children.
Asbury assists these parents by offering a safe and loving place to bring their children one Friday evening per month. This allows parents who cannot otherwise find a babysitter to have some time to themselves.
Asbury's Respite Care ministry is coordinated with other churches throughout the area that offer Respite Care so that the ministry can be provided in Madison and Huntsville on a weekly basis. This enables parents to have a weekly break from the demanding responsibilities of raising a child with special needs.
Asbury's Respite Care is offered the 4th Friday of each month from 6:00PM - 10:00PM in the basement of the Hope Building (except November and December).
Parents of children with special needs are invited to reserve a place for their child and their siblings under the age of 12 beginning the Monday before the 4th Friday. Reservations will be taken on a first come first served basis according to the number of volunteers available. Space is limited so that each child receives the best care. The Church Secretary will take reservations after 9:00AM. Please call the church at 837-0365 x223
