Are you searching for God?
Have you ever gone to the refrigerator at night looking for something to eat? There’s a gnawing inside you that yearns to be satisfied but nothing inside the fridge looks appealing. After rummaging through the shelves you select a container of lemon yogurt. You eat the yogurt, but don’t feel very satisfied.
That’s the way many people experience life. There’s emptiness on the inside and yet there doesn’t seem to be anything that can satisfy the void. A wise person once said, “O God, we were created for you and our hearts are restless until they find there rest in you.”
Do you have a restless heart? Are you searching for something but not sure what it is?
The Bible tells the following story:
Jesus was traveling through the region of Samaria. He was tired and sat down by a well. A Samaritan woman came to the well to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” The woman replied, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews did not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water. Whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst. The water I give will become a spring of water creating eternal life.”
The Bible tells us that God created us to be in a loving relationship with Him. Even though we have broken trust with God, we are not left alone. Through Jesus Christ, God came to the earth to mend the broken relationship through his sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus invites you and all persons to place your life in his hands; to trust that he has forgiven your sins and will be with you forever.
The water that Jesus spoke of in his conversation with the Samaritan woman is the unending satisfaction that comes when we enter into a relationship with the God of the universe.
You can enter into a relationship with God by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. Receiving Jesus as Savior means the following:
1. I believe that Jesus is God revealed on earth who died for the sins of all.
2. I believe that through His death on the cross the price for my sin has been paid.
3. I believe that Jesus conquered death through His resurrection and He is alive today.
4. I confess that I am a sinner who needs the salvation that God alone offers.
5. I ask Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins.
6. I entrust my life to Him and I surrender control of my life to His Lordship.
If you would like to receive the gift of forgiveness and eternal life the prayer below is offered for you to pray.
Holy God, I thank you for loving me. I confess that I have sinned against you. I believe that Jesus Christ came to earth and died on a cross to pay for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. I ask you, Lord Jesus to forgive me and save me from my sins. I place my life in your hands. I now belong to you. Thank you for the gifts of forgiveness, eternal life and your Spirit living within me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
