As Asbury United Methodist Church anticipates the next 20 years of ministry in the name of Jesus, the vision that God has given us is clear. We shall be a growing body of believers engaged in: worshipping, winning, equipping, sending. We worship the Lord of all creation; we win others to Him; we are equipped to be effective disciples and we are sent to be on mission for Christ in a world that doesn’t know Him.
We will grow our resources so that the “net” with which we reach the lost will be larger. We will have the capacity to engage 6-7 thousand worshippers each week. We will offer Christ-centered ministry for children and youth. We will nurture and challenge adults in all stations of life to be all that Jesus has called them to be. Every member will be a part of a small group. We will encourage young persons to hear the call to be missionaries and clergy. Our members will see themselves as missionaries and thus will be involved in mission work somewhere. We will be a leading and teaching church for the sake of hundreds of churches in this region who desperately need help. Prayer and missions is the heartbeat of the congregation. We will develop a network of prayer that will extend well beyond our ministries.
The vision is clear; it is 20/20. The vision is built upon 20 years of blessing that God has poured into His church, Asbury. The vision looks to the next 20 years in anticipation of far greater things. Thus it is 20/20.
This vision is real. God has ordained it; God knows its fulfillment; God sees it! And so do all who by faith dare to step into tomorrow holding onto the great promises of our Lord and King.
This vision will bear fruit; thousands of people born into the kingdom of God; children and youth discovering and responding to the grace of Jesus, going into the world to make a difference; unreached people groups hearing the gospel in their language; life changing worship; countless people healed and reconciled to God and one another; despair giving way to hope, fear to love, and doubt to faith.
To Christ be the glory, now and forever. Amen!
