Terry and Peggy serve Wycliffe full-time, based in Orlando, Florida. Terry is involved in establishing Information Technology (IT) projects to support the structure of world-wide Bible translation. Peggy’s work supports field personnel and activities, vital to the success and accomplishment of Vision 2025, the commitment by Wycliffe to see a bible translation program started for every language needing one by the year 2025. Terry and Peggy also work to build awareness of Wycliffe’s mission and goal, and they have challenged Asbury to explore how we may become a part of fulfilling this goal that will give all people adequate access to the Scriptures in a language that they can understand.
“…Bible translators are among the most treasured mission workers in the world. Their task is immense and requires 15 to 20 years of labor, often working in extreme isolation. They must not only master a new and complex language, but create a dictionary, a master grammar rule book, understand the subtleties, and then translate the Word of God accurately and faithfully. What a task!” – Bruce Smith, President/CEO, Wycliffe Associates
“A person that feels he or she must be an ordained minister to become a missionary should prayerfully reconsider what the ‘Great Commission’ verses in God’s Word (e.g., Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:18-20) are actually saying: the commands to ‘go’ and ‘baptize’ and ‘make disciples’ both locally as well as globally are given to the church as a whole – not to its pastoral leadership, but to the body of Christ itself within the church. Taken together with the verses regarding being different members of one body, each with unique purpose, meaning, function, and service, these verses are clearly calling every believer to ministry and missions…however the Lord leads. And indeed He will lead any willing and seeking believer to fulfill their particular calling to serve Him. Obedience to that call is fulfillment of that Great Commission.” – Terry and Peggy
How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!” However, they did not all heed the glad tidings; for Isaiah says “Lord, who has believed our report?” So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. – Romans 10:13-17
