Asbury Mission Team Area:  Ends of the Earth

MSC of Honduras is one of Asbury’s first strategic mission partners.  Their vision is to reach the entire country of Honduras with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of His word, so that their lives may be impacted eternally for Him.  Their mission is to serve the poor in Honduras with love, “praising God, enjoying the favor of all the people.” (Acts 2:47)  This is accomplished through a myriad of important compassion ministries and programs, designed to improve the quality of life for impoverished families and provide a vehicle to share Christ’s love and salvation message:  medical clinics and brigades to rural areas, nutrition and feeding programs, assistance with school supplies and educational needs, and community gardens, just to name a few.  Mission teams from Asbury frequently travel to Honduras during spring, fall and summer. Other special activities arise intermittently all throughout the year.  MSC is a completely faith-based ministry, relying on God’s gracious provision and protection, and the prayers and support of His people.

“During the time that I was defining my future as a medical doctor and surgeon, I was praying and asking God for direction for all we desired to do as a family.  I had always known in my heart that I should testify to others about the Good News of salvation, and to dedicate myself to my family.  I also knew that I intended to help persons with scare economic resources, and their need to know the plan of God for their lives.  As I prayed and waited on God, God gave me a vision in which He showed me a multitude of people at a Christian gathering.  In attendance were ministers, leaders and members of all the Church of God.  I saw myself in the middle of the whole throng, and I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Look all around you.’ I immediately obeyed and my eyes beheld that there were other people there, and they were sad, sick, weak, wearing ragged, tattered clothing and shoes.  As I looked all around, the same voice came to me a second time and said, ‘Roman, this is your work.’” – Dr. Roman Cruz

“For a while, my wife and I were the only ones developing this vision.  Sometimes, I would think, ‘God, how can we expand this ministry into the whole country?’ God answered me, saying, ‘Don’t worry.  Continue the work, strongly and steadfastly.  I will send you other brethren, some Honduran and some North American, which will join you in this vision.’  In those days, I didn’t know a single brother or sister in Christ that lived in the U.S.!” – Dr. Roman Cruz
